A Married Couple Becomes Upset About Their Excessive And Irresponsible Drinking And Wonders If They Exhibit Any Alcohol Addiction Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for five years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they purposely constructed an especially vibrant social life.

The major difficulty, it needs to be emphasized, is that almost everything they do socially includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the happy hours, parties with friends, sporting events, family get-togethers, and dinner engagements they patronize have something to do with drinking.

If they were moderate or responsible drinkers this wouldn't be such a major issue. Due to the fact they drink quite irresponsibly, however, they are starting to become aware of some apparent alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.

For example, Lenny recently was apprehended by the police for a second DUI and has been calling off from work due to alcohol-related health issues. What is more, Lenny's last three performance appraisals at the office have been less than average and he has begun to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit some disquiet about his drinking situation.

Similarly, Angie has been feeling disheartened about life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more than any time in the past ten months. Moreover, Angie has been getting quite a few throbbing headaches and suffering from intense hangovers from drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling significantly less energetic when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late virtually every Monday, and she has been getting some negative criticism from her friends, family members, coworkers, and relatives about her abusive and careless drinking.

One Wednesday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie stumbled upon a remarkable documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV special was a real eye opener to Angie and Lenny because several of the alcohol facts that were discussed seemed like they were directly linked to several of the drinking difficulties Lenny and Angie had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the television special still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are addicted to alcohol or possibly becoming alcohol dependent. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare professionals at the local alcohol rehabilitation clinic to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking issues.

Ironically, although their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was clear that Angie and Lenny were at least focusing on their drinking difficulties, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could appreciably lessen or eliminate the alcohol-related problems that had begun to go from bad to worse.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they decided that the next day, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol abuse treatment center located just North of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to rise above the alcohol-related problems that had manifested themselves in their lives, they in point of fact had the most refreshing night's sleep they could remember in the last three weeks.
