For Publications Which Are Tricky To Locate, Reading Publications On-Line Is Sometimes A Valid Choice
My first exposure to online books was in school. Even though we always had the option to buy textbooks in the store, many of the college instructors put their publications online as well. Doing this would save the students money and let them access the books from any computer in the campus. This meant that you never had to lug around your text-books - a major advantage after a semester of slogging through the snow.
At first, I was not very into publications online. I could not get into the experience, you see. It just did not feel correct to me. I like to be able to rest with a book, holding it in my hand and turning the pages. I could tell where things were located and remember the pages by their position. With the book online, you cannot do any of those things. It strains your eyes, requires you to sit upright in the same pose for hour after hour, and is very hard to flip your way through. I also like audio books on CD, though.
After a few years of online publication reading, however, I was a great deal more used to the method, just like I had gotten used to audio books. I had already started to buy books online for almost every purpose. I bought sports books on-line, text-books online - you name it. Not only did the net let me buy printed books cheaply, but it also allowed me to access many items that were out-of-print.
Reading books on line is not truly that good for contemporary literature that you can buy in the store. You may as well either purchase it or borrow it from the library, or listen to it, with books on cd. The great thing about books on-line, however, is that you can often find very old ones with very little trouble. Resources such as Project Gutenberg enable you to get into the great classics of literature from all times and places around the globe. As long as it is no longer copy protected, you can legally put the book online.
Of course, the area where publications on-line have the greatest advantage of all is with audio books. The awesome thing about audio books online is that it's so much more convenient than needing to borrow them from the library or go to an audio book store. Instead, you can just download them to your computer and listen to them at your leisure. If you want to bring them with you, you can place them on an iPod or burn them onto Disc. Audio books online make a lot of sense.
